Dr. Yuedong Yang


Bio: Dr. Yuedong Yang is professor of the School of Computer Science at Sun Yat-sen University and the chief engineer of the National Supercomputing Center in Guangzhou. Currently he focuses on integrating HPC and AI to advance drug design by fusing multi-scale biological information, where he has published more than 200 articles in top journals and conferences (including Nature Machine Intelligence/Nat Comp Sci/Chem/Nat Comm). He was selected as top 2% most influential scientists in the world by Stanford University, and has won the Best Paper Award of Cell Press for Chinese scientists. He also serves as an editorial board member for Communications Biology.



Title: Integrating HPC and AI for Accelerated Drug Design

 

Abstract: AI drug design is becoming an efficient way to speed up drug discovery. It remains challenging to represent molecules in the algorithm development. In this talk, he will introduce their recent works to represent protein and compound molecules, and to fuse the representations for accurately assessing protein-drug interaction. They further integrate the AI models with large-scale molecular simulations, enabling successful discovery of new PROTAC candidate compounds within 7 weeks.
